Countdown to Carnival 2022

February 26 2021

To mark one year until Mardi Gras Day – and hopefully a return to Mardi Gras as we know it – Camellia Brand Red Beans, TABASCO Brand Pepper Sauce, Cajun Country Rice, and the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) will be giving away free red beans and rice starter kits on Monday, March 1. Come pick up a free kit outside of NOCHI at 725 Howard Ave. from 11 a.m. to 1:30 or until supplies run out. While there, view the “Red Beans Done Right” house float outside NOCHI. Step into the pot of red beans and take a photo or two.

Every kit will come in a customized tote bag and will include a bag of Camellia red beans, a bag of Cajun Country Long Grain Rice and a bottle of TABASCO Sauce – everything you need to whip up some red beans and rice safely at home while you await the arrival of Mardi Gras Day 2022.

The public is required to wear face coverings and maintain a distance of six feet when picking up starter kits and viewing the house float. Curbside pickup is available for those who wish to remain in their cars. Those who are sick or have been in close contact with someone who is COVID-19 positive are asked to stay home. These regulations will be strictly enforced.
