2013 Mardi Gras Weather Updates

February 11 2013

Mardi Gras Weather ChangesThe weather is not cooperating this year. Rain and threats of severe weather have forced some parades to change their schedules and two parades in the suburb of Metairie were canceled altogether.

Below are the latest updates on schedule and route changes. We’ll keep this post updated if any more news comes in!

Lundi Gras – Monday, February 11, 2013

Right now, the weather forecasters aren’t sure where and when it’ll rain so it’s a good idea to pack a pancho. Don’t pack an umbrella. It’ll be too crowded and you don’t want to block anyone’s view.

Krewe of Proteus now starts at 4:30 pm, 45 minutes earlier than the originally scheduled time. Their route has also been shortened; they will now immediately crossover to the lakebound side of Canal Street and disband.

Krewe of Orpheus will start thirty minutes early at 5:30 pm.  Their route has also been changed.  They are now going to make a hard right onto the river bound side of Canal Street (with traffic) and head towards Tchoupitoulas Street to disband.

Krewe of Hera in Metairie is canceled.

Kerwe of Zeus, also in Metairie is canceled.

Mardi Gras – Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Fingers are crossed, it looks like the weather is going to cooperate and it should be drier.

Krewe of Zulu plans at starting at their scheduled time of 8 am.

Krewe of Rex also has made no changes to their scheduled time of 10 am.

Keep an eye on this page for any other schedule changes or canellations. Hope they’re won’t be anymore and that the rain will cooperate. However if there are any more changes, as they come in we’ll update this page.
