Mardi Gras 2013 Highlights And Wrap-Up

February 13 2013

It’s safe to say that no matter how you look at it, Mardi Gras 2013 was an amazing and exciting carnival season, even with a break for a week in between because of the Super Bowl.

Here’s a few of my favorites from this year’s season. I need a little bit of a break now, but in a week or two I’ll be starting to think about next year’s Carnival. I hope you had as much fun as me.

The bands! There were some amazing bands, both local and national! They filled the city with their sounds.

Not even the rain could stop the parades from rolling. It tried but the Krewes, like the Krewe Of Nyx were determined to spread the joy.

The lady’s of their Muses and their in-demand hand decorated heels! Did you get a shoe this year?

Endymion’s record breaking 330 foot long, 9 trailer float may have had a couple of hiccups with the tight corners, but it was still one of the highlights.

The beauty and the workmanship of the King’s costume from Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club brought out cameras and camera phones.

Every year, the city measures the success of Mardi Gras based on the amount of trash picked up. The official numbers aren’t in yet, but this photo shows that 2013 was a clear success.

I hope you had a great Mardi Gras. Make sure that you enter your Mardi Gras pics to our photo contest and you could win a hotel stay at a luxury New Orleans hotel.  If you weren’t able to make it this year, I hope you’re already planning your 2014 trip.
