And the Votes are in: New Orleans Named Top U.S. Destination!

September 25 2012

New Orleans U.S. top destinationWith Mardi Gras 2013 and Super Bowl XLVII running consecutive weeks, there may not be a more exciting time in the near future to visit the city of New Orleans (That's assuming your preffered taste of New Orleans came with a healthy dose of decadent extravagance). Though ask a local and he or she will tell you that its ALWAYS a great time to plan a trip to the Big Easy. And like us, it appears as though many of the top online travel outlets tend to agree.

With the announced 2012 Trip Advisor 'Traveler's Choice Awards', New Orleans was recently named the 7th best destination in the U.S. to visit. On a global scale, finding itself sandwiched between Los Angeles, CA and Cape Town, South Africa, the city ranked rather impressively, coming in at 22nd respectively!

Travel & Leisure recently named its 2012 'World's Best Cities' awards. New Orleans fared somewhat better in this poll, ranking fifth in the United States overall. In last year's Travel & Leisure 'America's Favorite Cities' awards, New Orleans was lauded number one overall for its night-life, cocktail hour, live music, wild weekends, and the singles scene.

So no matter if there is a big game, carnival, or one of a host of festivals, there's never a bad time of year to start making your way down to the 'city that care forgot'. Plan your trip and scratch this one off your bucket list (though we can't promise you won't want to put this city right back on your list!)
