2014 Mardi Gras Parade Schedule Sneak Peek

May 9 2013

Who’s ready for Mardi Gras 2014?

I’ve been ready since the last parade rolled by in February. We still have some time to wait, 298 days to be exact, but it’s never too early to start planning.

Mardi Gras FloatMardi Gras 2014 is Tuesday, March 4. It’s a little bit later this year, but good things come to those who late. Plus, it means a little bit warmer temperatures for those parades that roll from super early in the morning to the ones that march late through the night.

The parades kick off Saturday, February 15, with the wild and fun Krewe Du Viuex, followed by the Krewe Delusion marching through Marigny and the French Quarter.

The traditional krewes kick off their parades down St. Charles Avenue on Friday, February 21. The Krewe of Oshun starting things off that night.

Krewe of Ancient Druids and Krewe of Nyx start the extended Mardi Gras weekend of parades on Wednesday, February 26.

The much beloved Kewe of Muses rolls the following night, Thursday, February 27. Throw me some shoes!

Saturday, March 1, the superkrewe Krewe of Endymion travels through Mid-City their brightly lit floats.

Krewe of Bacchus rules the night on Sunday, March 2.

Krewe of Zulu and Krewe of Rex march early Tuesday, March 4 before the truck krewes come in and wrap up the 2014 season.

Please note the exact schedule is subject to change and the parade routes are nowhere near set in stone yet.

See the whole parade schedule and if you’re thinking about coming, plan your trip to New Orleans now. New Orleans hotels start filling up a year in advance for Mardi Gras. I’m not joking!
