Krewe of Endymion

Endymion gets its name from the figure of Greek mythology, the most handsome of men and the god of youth and fertility.
First parading in 1967, Endymion quickly emerged as one of Carnival's 'Super-Krewes' in 1974 with the inclusion of more floats and celebrity guests.

2012 Mardi Gras News
This year, the Krewe of Enymion boasts a large array of celebrity guests including rock band Maroon 5 and CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper.
New Orleans native George LaFargue will serve as the krewe's king for Mardi Gras in 2012. The process of choosing the king was a random drawing, and LaFargue was chosen, making him the first African American to ride as Endymion's king.
As a member of the krewe for the past six years, LaFargue was thrilled with the opportunity. He said that when he was announced as the krewe's 46th king, he jumped and screamed, and his wife began crying tears of joy.
