Krewe of Alla
Date: Sunday, Feb 23, 2014 | Location: West Bank | Time: Noon

The all-male Krewe of Alla originally formed in 1932. Since then, the krewe has staged a total of more than 75 annual street parades, one 75th anniversary parade, one Gretna Kick-Off parade, and 11 river parades.
Mardi Gras spectators recogonize this Jefferson Parish based Krewe for their bright, beautiful floats designed by Blaine Kern Artists, multiple bands and marching groups and generous throws.
In 2013, Alla moves from its traditional Sunday slot, because of the Super Bowl being held in the Superdome that day, to the day before, Saturday, February 2.
Reigning as maharajah (king) will be William J. "Bill" Landry, Jr., of Terrytown, and as maharanee (queen) will be Sydney Rae Sudderth, of Belle Chasse, a junior at Mount Carmel Academy.
The theme of this year's parade is "Alla Takes Flight," and its floats are titled The Griffin, The Phoenix, The American Eagle, The Giant Roc, The Wise Old Owl, The Quetzal, The Raven, and Parrots. Also appearing in the line-up are Alla's iconic maharajah, maharanee, and title floats and its signature Coon-Ass and Allagator floats.
Membership into the Krewe of Alla is open to all males of good character who are at least 15 years of age.
