Family Gras 2013 will be Friday, 02/01/13 - Saturday, 02/02/13
This celebration of carnival and family takes place on the neutral ground of Veterans Memorial Boulevard
across from Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, Louisiana.
The Jefferson Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to present Family Gras again in 2013. Jefferson is a unique parish, complementing its neighboring Orleans Parish. Family Gras is a perfect way to showcase Jefferson Parish as a tourist destination, and to bring visitors to the region. Family Gras is a family-friendly Mardi Gras that offers free outdoor concerts, including national and Louisiana artists alike. This is made possible through the sponsorship of the Jefferson hospitality and business community.
The event also enables Jefferson Parish restaurants, caterers, and businesses to feature their cuisine and desserts at the Flambeau Food Court; as well as their crafts and art pieces through the event's Art Market. With crowds surpassing 80,000 and an economic impact of over $6 million for Jefferson in the past year, corporate and small business owners are provided with a fantastic advertising opportunity by partnering with Family Gras.
Family Gras Overview
Every year, Family Gras takes places on the neutral ground of Veterans Memorial Boulevard, across from the Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie. Bring your kids to enjoy the traditional spectacle of Mardi Gras, along with free outdoor concerts by both national artists and Louisiana's own! In past years, Family Gras artists have included Tony Orlando, Kansas, Taylor Swift, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sheena Easton, Jesse McCartney, Amanda Shaw, and more!
Family Gras loves to see you and your family in costume. Fright Night Friday encourages you to wear something spooky, while Carnival Saturday offers a chance to don your purple, green and gold! Sports Sunday is something our Saints fans love, as it offers the opportunity to wear the colors of your favorite team.
Flambeau Food Court vendors "cook up" a good time with such favorites as jambalaya, crawfish pasta, muffulettas, pizza and gator-on-a-stick. Enjoy Louisiana goodies like bread pudding and king cake.
The Art Market features local and regional artisans' booths of specialty arts & crafts available throughout the festival weekend.
